Multiple Blues Music Award winner Mike Zito's new album, 'Life Is Hard', was recorded in September at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood, California and produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith.
"Life Is Hard" is a total work of art for me," says Mike Zito about the new record, which also features Joe Bonamassa with his guitar skills.
The dozen tracks on "Life Is Hard" contain Mike Zito's original compositions, but also his adaptations of a variety of blues songs written by contemporaries such as Tinsley Ellis, Walter Trout, Tab Benoit and Fred James. Interspersed are cover versions by various blues and roots music icons, including Little Milton ("Lonely Man"), Stevie Wonder ("Have a Talk with God") and Reverend Gary Davis ("Death Don't Have No Mercy "), as well as the blues-worthy interpretation of the Guess Who classic "These Eyes".
