It's hardly surprising that MEMORIAM is an old hand at work, who have gained a legendary reputation at least in death metal circles. With frontman Karl Willets (ex-BOLT TRHOWER), Frank Healy (bass, among others BENEDICTION), guitarist Scott Fairfax (amongst others live guitarist at BENEDICTION) and drummer Andrew Whale (ex-BOLT THROWER) the highest quality is almost guaranteed.
For the musicians themselves,"For The Fallen" was a process in which they dealt with the suffering and sadness of their losses. But the war mills never stand still for the British and enough ammunition seems to have been available in the year of their debut release. After successful shows at the Wacken Open Air, the Graspop Open Air and the Roadburn Festival, among others, we went back to the forge. Following their tremendous tempo, they worked on new material, which is now to be found in the form of eight more mercilessly deadly songs on "The Silent Vigil". The second album in MEMORIAM's history is less marked by sadness than its predecessor and has clearly set the tone for aggressiveness. The band has also honed the sound and created a monstrous sound garment, which lends further emphasis to the impressive warfare. "The Silent Vigil" sounds like MEMORIAM without copying the successful debut. Once again, Riffmaster Scott Fairfax developed the first ideas and implemented them together with his colleagues. So fans don't have to worry,"The Silent Vigil" will inimitably exude the old-school flair again and at no time lose its merciless groove.
