Shaka till death! The Kyuss legend and creator of such Desert Rock cornerstones as Unida, Slo-Burn, Hermano and Vista Chino returns in the next incarnation: John Garcia & The Band Of Gold. After two solo albums and the "Coyote Unplugged"-Tour the band is back on track again. No wonder, because no one less than Chris Goss (who among other things has eaten Kyuss and the Queens of the Stone Age) wrapped the self-titled disc in the appropriate garment. The relaxed 'Space Vato' introduces a Desert Rock round dance with dust-dry groovers like 'My Everything' and 'Cheyletiella', the urgent 'Popcorn (Hit Me When You Can)' a complete Subgenre to its core. The hypnotic 'Softer Side' releases the listener back into the Reality: a pity, we would have rather stayed in California.
