Gentle Giant Octopus

2015, Originally released in 1972, OCTOPUS is Gentle Giant's fourth album, and featured band members Gary Green (guitars), Kerry Minnear (keyboards, vocals), Derek Shulman (vocals), Phil Shulman (saxophones, vocals), Ray Shulman (guitar, vocals) and John Weathers (drums). The album was produced by the band and engineered and mixed by Martin Rushent. For this new digipak edition, Steven Wilson tastefully remixed the album as well as a bonus mix of 15-minute concert performances of ,,Excerpts from Octopus"; from the band's 1976 tour. New sketches by Roger Dean (who produced the original UK album cover) are included in the new packaging as well as artwork from the USA album. Gentle Giant were never a major league player in the progressive rock world in the 70's especially in their homeland. Their influence in todays prog rock is still strongly felt. Just listen to Spock's Beard's ,,Thoughts" from their V album to hear their take on the multi-vocal gymnastics which is the centre-piece of the knotty ,,Knots". Digipack.
