In 1980, four high school friends from London, Ontario, Canada formed a band called Equus. Like many other musicians before us, they set out with stars in their eyes and hope in their hearts.
By 1985 they had produced an EP played in and around their hometown, and two more singles followed in 1986. The band also went through some member changes, not unlike many of our heroes in the music industry. Over time they shared the stage with bands like Gowan, Helix and Blue Rodeo.
In 1992 and 2011 there were several "reunion" shows with the original core of 4 members while they all moved on to other projects.
Fast forward to 2024 and we find ourselves "back on the horse," as they say. Remastered by Paul Piccari (Hit The Ground Runnin'), the new and expanded Equus album features 5 fantastic sounding tracks from the original EP and expanded tracks that continue this musical journey, including two from their 1986 single "You Decide" and "She's Gone." Bonus tracks include a re-recorded version of "Powerlife" and the unreleased tracks "If That What It Takes" and "Mother Earth", which were recorded with some of the original line-up and capture the same passionate energy and spiritual direction that the band brought researched at that time.
