Ephialtes' debut album, 'Melas Oneiros', delivers aggressive, anthem-laden Melodic Blackened Death Metal with a traditional Heavy Metal feel.
The band calls their unique blend "Heavy Metal of Death."
The name Ephialtes comes from the Ancient Greek word for "nightmare," meaning "one who climbs over the body of the sleeping."
Ephialtes formed during the global pandemic, with Przemys?aw Tomasz Olbryt, aka Quazarre (of Devilish Impressions, Asgaard, ex-Crionics), working on what would become 'Melas Oneiros'. "I started writing without a clear end in mind, just going with the flow," Quazarre explains.
He enlisted bandmates from Devilish Impressions for recording and future performances, and Marcus Edvardsson from Souldrainer added epic, choir-like synthesizers. Recording took place in 2021 across Poland and Sweden and was completed the following year under Przemys?aw Nowak at Impressive-Art Studio.
Quazarre pushed boundaries, rewriting and rearranging songs until they met his vision. The result is a bold, meticulous album with catchy riffs, epic slow-downs, and haunting melodies, blending Black, Death, and Heavy Metal in a dark, somber atmosphere.
"We're not reinventing the wheel, just offering our take on the genre. We remain loyal to the classic while pushing boundaries, not to please others but ourselves.
We are Ephialtes, your recurring nightmare," Quazarre concludes.
