2011, Right out of the gate, Dusted Angel's three-song EP from 2009, THE THORN, was an impressive splash of infectious riffs and a mix of slow to mid-paced tempos. Bands such as Kyuss, early Monster Magnet, Nebula, and so on are the obvious template of Dusted Angel's approach, but the band is quite heavy, as well, sounding somewhat similar to harder hitting stoner outfits such as Acid King and Black Cobra. All great stoner metal is about the riffing, and Dusted Angel have piled riffs upon riffs into their song craft. The patterns are simple, but are very catchy, so much so that you'll find yourself reaching for the ´repeat` button quite often. Seven slow to mid-paced songs with plenty of huge, infectious riffs, a thick production with a nicely audible bass, hard hitting percussion, and a gruff wail from vocalist Clifford Dinsmore all come together to produce a great stoner metal album.
