"Expanding Senses" - the heavy follow-up to "Insanity" - offers a lot of variety in the songs. There are the faster tracks full of chops, and then there are medium-fast songs with a lot of guitar crunch (a new aspect of DARKANE). And of course we can't forget the tracks that mix both, moving from brutal to melodic and back again, while incorporating the atmospheric cyber feel along the way.
"Expanding Senses" is a little less progressive and chaotic, more straightforward. That's okay though, as DARKANE have made it a point to keep their songs more focused, but not too simple.
Andreas Sydow displays a vocal style more reminiscent of Slayer's Araya, which fits the songs perfectly.
Two videos were produced for the standout tracks "Innocence Gone" and "Chaos vs Order", which gave DARKANE another boost. These two songs are still played at most live shows.
To introduce "Expanding Senses" in a proper way, DARKANE did their first major tours with Testament, Behemoth, Death Angel and Marduk, among others, and they also performed at some festivals like Sweden Rock Festival and Wacken Open Air (Germany). They also made their first appearances in Japan and Israel.
