The opener "Gadfly" begins heavy, drifting and blowing feverishly and hectically, to suddenly give way to tender mellotron choirs and dreamily trumpet. "Sincerely Yours" or "Hit And Run" are pop songs, more personal, conciliatory, tender and beautiful than ever. But also the usual heap of madness is put outside as always: prog rock, fusion, kraut rock, zappaesque moments prepared for musical gourmets. "Zephyr" and "Soft Focus" are spaceship fuel without CO2 emissions. The horns take a back seat, are team players and set accents or play keyboards and sing backing vocals. On the new album COOGANS BLUFF are more than ever a band that is "together". Playfully, technically, musically on the highest level. With a common vision and full of ideas "Metronopolis" is self-produced. More versatile and yet more homogeneous. Instrumental world class and vocally alien.
