2016, These guys are one of those bands that have such a strong following amongst the bar rats but yet truly have failed to garner any real attention. IN RUIN like every other Cauldron album is formulaic. It resides staunchly in the mid-80's era traditional metal arena and flies that flag proudly. The riffing is mid paced and extremely melodic. The essence of Cauldron is this: melodic riffs, mid paced fist-pounding and a vocalist who attempts to soar above the music and incite even more melody. IN RUIN is 9-tracks of head-banging, modernized, classic Heavy Metal beginning with ,,No Return", a high-tempo song with nice riffs and an energetic drumbeat that ratchets up further as the track continues, bringing memories of old Metallica, before closing with some simple cords. Next, ,,Empress" is a slightly slower, brooding melody with a hypnotic riff, again, seeming to channel Metallica, before breaking into a slight speed riff before returning the hypnotic riff as the drums drive.
