Metal with a (First) World War theme has a long tradition - even in the extreme sector, not least thanks to bands like Endstille, God Dethroned or Hail of Bullets. But no one has dared to tackle the subject as consistently (also as far as the visual is concerned) as in 1914! The Ukrainians enrich their denigrated, massive Death Metal with appropriate radio play passages and disturbing melody sprinkles, and majestically rolling Doom is a must for breakers like 'A7V Mephisto' of course. Atmospherically dense and technically sublime, the monolith The Blind Leading The Blind piles up and surprisingly strikes with the Exploited cover 'Beat The Bastards' black metallic-punky tones. A future reference work of the genre!
