After a break of eleven years a new album of the supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen is released. Merrie Land' is the second album by Damon Albarn ( Gorillaz , Blur), Paul Simonon ( The Clash ), Tony Allen and Simon Tong and follows the acclaimed self-titled debut album from 2007.
Produced by producer legend Tony Visconti and the four band members, 'Merrie Land' contains ten new tracks written at a time when Britain is preparing for its final departure from the EU. The result was a farewell letter from the band - a series of observations and reflections on "Britishness" in 2018. 'Merrie Land' is a beautiful and hopeful plea for today's Great Britain - an open Great Britain - and the diverse possibilities of the future beyond London. A Great Britain that is currently in a great crisis and is wondering what can still be saved now. With 'Merrie Land' the band creates a creative symbiosis of past and future, which is inspired by a common dazzling music history and which dresses the hybrid results in a brilliant postmodern, but thoroughly British garb.
