Outlaw were founded in 2015 by Lee Anvel (vocals) and John Kaiser (bass) in Finnish Lappeenranta was founded. The line-up is completed by guitarists Jimmy Slashburner and Simon Shatter as well as Johnny Gutter on drums. After a demo tape called "Speed Calls" High Roller Records offered a contract for the debut album "Marauders".
"Marauders" consists of eight pieces of their own, which Lee Anvel describes as follows: "When composing I follow an approach that is quite similar to Saxon's; the pieces are different but stylistically recognizable. Our influences are extremely multi-layered, but they come from not from this century."
Outlaw are especially inspired by Iron Maiden and especially Judas Priest. The title song sounds like a mixture of "British Steel" and "Screaming For Vengeance", but without the high vocal creams of Rob Halford. Lee Anvel (whose vocals are located in the middle between Blackie Lawless and Riots Rhett Forrester) agrees: "Indeed I had in mind a more commercial version of Judas Priest when writing 'Marauders'. Enriched with a Scandinavian vibe."
On "Marauders" Outlaw present an exciting mixture of US Metal, NWOBHM and Euro Metal. According to their singer, this won't stay that way in the near future: "I've already worked with the composing songs for Outlaw's second album and I can assure you that the new material will be more US Power Metal and far less NWOBHM influences."
