Orange Crate Art is the first joint studio album by Brian Wilson (founder and lead singer/songwriter of the Beach Boys) and Van Dyke Parks (producer/composer of Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, Phil Ochs, Little Feat, Ry Cooder, Joanna Newsom, Ringo Starr, U2, Grizzly Bear, Kimbra, Suzy Williams and Silverchair, among others).
Originally released in 1995 on Warner Bros. records, "Orange Crate Art" consists mainly of songs written and arranged by Parks, with Wilson as lead and backing vocalist. The title "Orange Crate Art" refers to the sun-drenched, idealized paintings decorating wooden fruit boxes, and the theme is a nostalgic look at California's history.
Double vinyl with three previously unreleased session outtakes and CD format with a bonus CD of previously unreleased instrumental tracks.
