2013, Wolfchant play viking/folk metal with strong black metal elements and occupy a comfortable middle group between the singalong melodies of Ensiferum or Finntroll and the heavier side such as Manegarm or Thryfing. If you're looking for comparisons then fellow Germans Suidakra would probably be your best bet as there is a lot of similarity between the bands, especially earlier Suidakra á la THE ARCANUM. Both bands use folk melodies, screaming/growling and occasional clean vocals and almost constant high-end lead guitars throughout. However, Wolfchant are slightly different from the pack in that they don't have keyboards or choirs in their music. As such, the music is much more guitar orientated and has more of a raw, black metal feel then many of their contemporaries, and this lack of ´epic-ness` is actually quite refreshing, as is the noticeable lack of melodic death or power metal attributes.
