Korpiklaani Kulkija

"Kulkija" begins with a typical band opening trio ('Neito','Korpikuusen kyynel' and'Aallon aala'), before a beautiful acoustic ballad, called'Harmaja', gives the audience a first breather. Kotikonnut', also the first single release, follows. Korppikalliota' leads to 'Kallon malja', the longest track of the album with almost ten minutes. Song No. 8, the doomige 'Sillanrakentaja', with a children's choir (among others with children of Cane and Jonne) provides another surprise before'Henkselipoika' takes over. This song may seem familiar to some, as it already celebrated its premiere on KORPIKLAANI's extensive European tour with HEIDEVOLK, ARKONA and TROLLFEST at the beginning of 2018. The instrumental'Pellervoinen' by violinist Tuomas' pen opens the last third with his dreamy folk arrangements. Riemu' and'Kuin korpi nukkuva' continue the journey. Joumamaa' then pulls the tempo up again before'Tuttu on tie' finally brings the record to a peaceful end.

"Kulkija" presents the band like never before heard before. It was recorded in November 2017 together with producer Janne Saksa at Petrax Studio (Hollola, Finland). Saksa was also responsible for the mix at Sound Supreme Studio in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The detailed cover artwork was contributed by Jan Yrlund (BATTLE BEAST, MANOWAR), who has been working with the band since the third KORPIKLAANI album. This shows a beautiful landscape based on a photo taken by Jan in Huhtalan torppa, Kuhmoinen, Finland.
