Switchblade Romance is the new band of Uwe Köhler, who is probably best known as the bassist of Bonfire, where he played four strings for 18 years. However, the true connoisseurs of the German rock scene should not have been unaware of this: Uwe Köhler is also a brilliant singer, guitarist and songwriter. As a co-songwriter and musician, he has not only worked for Bonfire, but also celebrated successes with his bands Black Tears and Big Apple in the 1980s and 90s.
For Switchblade Romance, Uwe Köhler has now mothballed his bass; on "Old God's Return" the Munich musician shines as a singer and guitarist. The music of Switchblade Romance is as classic as the line-up: heavy, with catchy refrain and a pinch of punk. Influences of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or AC/DC are obvious, the eleven songs on "Old God's Return" go forward and stay in your ears. Switchblade Romance make no compromises on their debut album. Traditional, a bit old school and yet not from yesterday, without frills and therefore a feast for the ears of every hard rock fan who likes good, handmade music with a roar factor. Therefore, "Old God's Return" is warmly recommended to all who find themselves in this description.
