26 East" is the address where DeYoung grew up in Chicago and from where he started his musical career. So the new album is to be understood as a return to his early years, as well as to DeYoung's experiences on his way to the rock summit with Styx. And why "Volume 1"? Because DeYoung had so many songs at hand that they decided to release two of them - "Volume 2" should follow in just under a year! With the new songs, most of which were created in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Jim Peterik (songwriter of "Eye Of The Tiger"), the Styx past cannot be denied, especially since DeYoung's voice remains unmistakable. As special guest Julian Lennon sings the song "To The Good Old Days" as a duet with DeYoung.
