If you love slideguitar blues that really knocks you off your feet, Sonny Landreth is the place to be. The US-American guitarist, songwriter and bandleader subscribes to rousing, opulently arranged pieces that cover a wide spectrum from rock, over zydeco and cajun music, folk and country to jazz fusion. In all this, the 69-year-old Southerner never forgets his roots and the rhythm and blues of the Mississippi Delta. On his last studio album, "Bound by theBlues", released in 2015, he turned back to solid, pure blues rock after a long break. Two years later, "Recorded Live in Lafayette" followed, a concert recording that reviewed his entire career and for which he was nominated for a Grammy. Now Sonny Landreth finally has new material on offer again. Musically speaking, he is still knee-deep in the swamp, and that's a good thing: Landreth's 14th longplayer is entitled "Blacktop Run".
