Description

Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres release their debut album of the same name via Strap Originals/Cargo Records. Peter Doherty & ThePuta Madres" was recorded live to capture the essence and spirit of Puta Madres over four days during last summer in a house overlooking a fishing village in the community of Étretat in Normandy and mixed at Urchin Studios in East London. The album was recorded by Dan Cox (Laura Marling, ThurstonMoore, Florence & The Machine) and produced by Jai Stanley (longtime friend and manager of Peter). The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman's latest album is described by himself as "a devastating, intimate portrait of love, loss, tragedy, addiction and the power of the human soul to overcome its dark planes" and has been put through its paces at festivals and headline shows throughout Europe over the last 18 months. The album sees Doherty and his new band mates on their way back to his garage rock roots, including songs like the self-reflecting "All At Sea", the raw "Punk Buck Bonafide", the cheerful and playful,Shoreleave", the hopeful anthem of freedom "Paradise Is Under Your Nose", as well as "Someone Else To Be" "Peter Doherty's new release of "Ride Into The Sun" by VelvetUnderground and Oasis" "Don't Look Back In Anger".Who's Been HavingYou Over", the first single release from the new album, was mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Maximo Park, A-Ha, Sharon Van Etten, U2) and includes an original dialogue from the 1948 film adaptation by Graham Greenes "Brighton Rock" as well as a cheeky allusion to his supposedly bad reputation: You're so rock'n'roll".Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres: Peter Doherty (vocal/guitar), Miggles (bass), Miki Beavis (violin), Katia DeVidas (piano/keyboard), Jack Jones (lead guitar) and Rafa (drums).
