Eluveitie Ategnatos

We're all made out of archetypes. We ARE archetypes. Far echoes of a simultaneously primeval and yet noble life. To accept these archetypes, not only as part of life, but as life itself, is what some people call enlightenment, a certain peace of mind. ELUVEITY call it "Ategnatos". They used their longest gap between two metal albums to gain momentum and produce their strongest album yet.

"Ategnatos", a work based on primeval archetypes and the ancient concept of renewal, unfolds an elemental power for which one must first prepare. No wonder, then, that the album follows a decidedly darker, monumental tone that goes very well with it. Of course, ELUVEITIE have long since found their very own typical sound, a sonic adventure that has often been imitated but never surpassed. With "Ategnatos", this dedicated nine-member band not only (for the first time!) worked on the album, but also on the album's own sound.) with a real string quartet but also allowed Fabienne Erni's sublime mastery of the harp the space it deserved; they also underwent a holistic upgrade, resulting in some of the most catchy ('Ambriamus'), aggressive ('Worship', with LAMB OF GOD's titan Randy Blythe as guest singer) or even epic ('Black Water Down') melodies the Swiss folk metal authority has ever produced.
