The trio, formed in Rio de Janeiro, is heavily inspired by 70's English and Italian prog rock, but also influenced by traditional and popular Brazilian music, giving them a special and quite unique sound. Caravela Escarlate's third album is a new journey into old progressive rock ways. 'III' evokes historical themes in different contexts - Roman Empire, Middle Ages, Pre-Columbian Civilizations and Age of Discovery. The cover artwork is a painting by British artist J.M.W. Turner depicting the eruption of Mount Vesuvius that destroyed Pompeii in AD 79. Musically, the band delivers a deep melange of organ and synthesizers on a solid foundation of drums and bass. Seven tracks (two instrumentals) fuel Caravela Escarlate's unique approach, mixing universal influences including a Brazilian accent in Prog Rock.
